Arri

This section is about the Arri ALEXA series of digital cameras.

The ALEXA can record :

  • ARRIRAW
  • Apple Prores (to 2K)
    • 12 bit RGB ProRes 4444
    • 10 bit YCbCr ProRes 422 (Proxy)/422 (LT)/422/422 (HQ)
  • Avid DNxHD (to HD)
    • 10 bit RGB DNxHD 444
    • 10 bit YCbCr DNxHD 175x/185x/220x
    • 8 bit YCbCr DNxHD 115/120/145

From Working with ProRes/DNxHD

On the top end of the codecs, recording to DNxHD 444 or Prores 4444 can preserve the full sensor quantization in 12 bit logarithmic encoding, with the same range of colors available in ARRIRAW. Images recorded in a 4:4:4 codec are almost indistinguishable from uncompressed HD material.

Note that ARRIRAW require a high end GPU for debayering, including OpenCL and CUDA support.
